Breast Cancer Walk

Weight Watchers of Salt Lake City is going to be a sponsor once again this year for the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk!

It all starts with me getting on-line and creating a team.  I have already done that so you can get on-line and get registered right now.  Here are the instructions:
Go to makingstridesinutah.org
Click on Join a Team
Click on “Search for a team” and type in Kris’ Dream Walkers
(You have to type this in exactly like it’s typed above)
After that it will find our team and you just click on the right hand sign where it says “join” and follow the three quick steps.

There is no registration fee for this walk.

I will also be sending around a sign up sheet for T-shirts this week.  If you will not be there this week PLEASE e-mail me and let me know how many and what sizes.  They come in Small-XXXL.  Our team name will be on the back so everyone will know you are part of our group!

Shirts are $6.00 for us since Weight Watchers is a sponsor.  Everyone else pays $10.00.  You can have friends and family walk/run and everyone who joins under my team (or any Weight Watchers team) gets their shirt for the $6.00.

Also, please bring your money for your shirts by FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 3rd.  If you are not at your meeting, you can drop your t-shirt money to any one of my meetings, or contact me. Please be sure to put a sticky note on your check or cash so I know whose shirt that money is paying for.  Checks can just be made out to The American Cancer Society.  (I will have sticky notes for you at the meeting).

Questions???  E-mail me!!

Get your family and friends involved.  Get as many people as you can.

Date: Saturday, October 9, 2010
Location: Liberty Park (600 E 1000 S)
Start Time: 9:00 am
Cost: $6.00, for the shirt

Don't Hang Out in Beaver!

After our meeting topic about hitting the restart button, when I talked about not hanging out in Beaver when we're on our way to Vegas, Joey from my Tuesday night meeting in Draper typed this up:

You have planned a trip to Las Vegas.  You have checked the air pressure in your tires.  You have changed the oil in your car.  Packed your bags, made your hotel reservations, purchased your show tickets, mapped out your trip and where you are going to stop along the way.

As you get to BEAVER, your car develops engine trouble.  What do you do?  Do you just say, “To heck with it!  Instead of getting the car fixed, I am just going to hang out in BEAVER, UTAH.”

No, you analyze the situation, figure out what went wrong, get the car to a mechanic, get fixed what needs to be fixed, re-focus, hit the restart button, and get back on your trip to Las Vegas.

You Shake it Off and Step UP.  You do not let your lapse turn into a collapse!

Weight Watchers has taught us the tools we need to obtain weight loss.  Our mechanic is our instructor.  Our tools are found in our Weight Watcher’s books.  We just need to use them and we will!

Refocus and hit the restart button to make goal!

Kalene

Congratulations to Kalene on achieving her lifetime membership after losing 45 pounds!  One of Kalene's great strengths was adapting favorite recipes to suit her new healthy lifestyle.  Her family is now enjoying great food that is better for them.  Way to go Kalene!

Shake it Off and Step Up

Sorry this took me so long to get on here!  Life is busy!  Remember we all have our weight loss challenges... we need to put them behind us where they belong and move forward!  In other words... shake it off and step up!

A farmer owned an old mule that fell into a well.  After assessing the situation, the farmer reluctantly concluded that neither the mule nor the well was worth saving.  Instead, he called his neighbors together and enlisted them to help bury the old mule in the well and put him out of his misery.

Initially the old mule was frantic, but as the dirt kept hitting his back, something happened.  It dawned on the mule that every time a shovel load landed on his back, he should SHAKE IT OFF AND STEP UP!  This he did, blow after blow.  Shake it off and step up . . . shake it off and step up.  No matter how painful the blows or how distressing the situation, the old mule fought panic and just kept right on SHAKING IT OFF AND STEPPING UP!

Before long, the old mule, battered and exhausted, stepped triumphantly through the mouth of that well.  What seemed like it would bury him, actually helped him . . . all because of how he handled his adversity.
